Campus, Town & City Life

Postbacs know how to relax, have fun, and socialize with their fellow students. They engage in student-led committees—such as Baking, Diversity, and Wellness Committees—participate in intramural sports, volunteer as assistant coaches of College sports teams, and attend cultural events held in the Tri-Co community and beyond.

Campus

±¬ÁÏ¹Ï offers a variety of cultural, social, and recreational activities that enhance its stimulating educational experience. Postbac students are encouraged to take advantage of campus facilities and activities. Our athletic facilities include a 50,000-square-foot gymnasium, an Olympic-size pool, fitness center, basketball court, and outdoor tennis courts and fields for soccer, lacrosse, and field hockey. In the arts, ±¬ÁÏ¹Ï sponsors a variety of dance, music, and theater performances directed by faculty members and students. An extensive program of readings, exhibitions, performances, and workshops by visiting professional writers, artists, actors, and musicians complements these activities.

Or, when you're feeling more introverted, our postbacs share a wide range of personal interests with their peers, including cooking and dining, music, yoga, hiking, running, extramural team sports—and just hanging out!

Town

±¬ÁÏ¹Ï is located in ±¬ÁϹÏ, PA, the heart of Philadelphia’s Main Line suburbs (). A serene town with a population of 9,000, ±¬ÁÏ¹Ï offers a variety of retail stores, restaurants, apartments and rental properties, and other services. City

Just 11 miles to the east is Philadelphia, a vibrant urban mecca of history, culture, and entertainment. Our proximity to the Philadelphia area’s wide array of cultural, athletic, and dining venues, are a springboard for socializing with one another. Anchored by the Kimmel Center, home of the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Avenue of the Arts in Center City is where you will find all of the performing arts, including ballet, drama, jazz, musicals, opera, pop, and rock. The city’s major museums of art, medicine, and science—the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Franklin Institute, Mutter Museum, and Academy of Natural Sciences—are situated along the Ben Franklin Parkway. One of only two US cities that boast professional teams in all four sports, the city’s arena complex in South Philadelphia includes baseball and football stadiums for the Phillies and Eagles, and a combined basketball and hockey arena for the Sixers and Flyers.

Philadelphia is also one big college town. In fact, its 80 colleges and universities give the city the highest per capita concentration of higher education institutions in the nation—one-third of all residents in the heart of the city are between the ages of 18 and 29.

If you need a change of scene, New York City is just 100 miles to the north and Washington, DC, is 133 miles to the south—only a few hours by car, bus, or train.
