We know from the literature that 71% of employees across all professions value emotional intelligence in their leaders. They correlate emotional intelligence with being more effective at coaching teams, managing stress, giving feedback, and inspiring collaboration.
Many professionals who are reaching for leadership positions think that these positions come with an ability to influence others, demonstrate certainty, and be right. However, demonstrating authenticity in leadership requires one to be vulnerable, not have all the answers and communicate this with assurance and a sense of empathy. Developing Emotional Intelligence is a lifelong journey that requires consistent effort and practice.
Whether you hold a C-Suite Executive role or are in a leadership position in an organization, leaders who can deal with their feelings in a more positive way can also deal with problems more effectively.
Having the ability to demonstrate emotional intelligence in the workplace might seem obvious but upon examination of these innate skills, one can realize the deep challenge as well as the extreme gratification that comes with leading in this way. By exploring and actively working to develop your emotional intelligence, you can become a more effective and successful leader.
In this program, we will learn more about emotional intelligence as it relates to leadership by examining what the research says about this topic, scenario review and planning, self-assessment tools and discussion.

Instructor
Paula Goldstein, MS has been President and CEO of Jewish Family and Childrens Service of Greater Philadelphia since September 2011 and has worked within the Jewish community for more than 30 years. Prior to assuming the role of CEO, Paula served as the COO for JFCS and held numerous director positions. As CEO, Paula has established a dynamic executive team, implemented several strategic plans, and moved the organizations budget from $10 to $17 million. Strengthening the leadership development of both the Board and staff has been one of Paulas primary goals, along with expanding JFCS reach in the community to ensure that the organization is providing care for the changing needs of individuals and families.
Paula was the Board Chair of the Network of Jewish Human Service Agencies from 2022-2024. She also ran CEO orientation for new CEOs for the Network (NJHSA). Paula continues to serve on the Board of the NJHSA. She is a member of the Forum for Executive Women and is past president of Temple Sinai Synagogue in Dresher, Pennsylvania.
Paula received her certificate in Executive Leadership from the Non-Profit Executive Leadership Institute of 惇蹋圖 in 2011 and her masters degree from the Columbia School of Social Work in 1981.
