Adverse childhood experiences and toxic stress are impacting a majority of children and their parents. The prevalence and impact of adverse childhood experiences and toxic stress will be presented in this interactive training. The impact will be described with current research on the science of neurosequential brain development and the stress response cycle in the body.
Video examples, real-life personal and professional stories, and discussion will facilitate learning and engagement.
Participants will be challenged to change their thinking about children’s behavior and begin to question not what is wrong with the children, but what happened to them. The focus will be on modifying a child’s physiology which is the cause of the behavior, not just changing the behavior.
